I love the fresh aroma and flavors of rosemary, it reminds me of Fall/Winter.
It also pairs so well with anything Italian.
Rosemary is an herb that pairs well with Gin and Vodka. It has such a strong distinct flavor that it holds its own weight.
I think if you start mixing it with spirits that are stronger it may compete with the flavor a little too much.
Recipe: Makes 1 Cup
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Purified Hot Water
- 3 Full Sprigs of Rosemary
Instructions:
Add the sugar to hot filtered water, then add the fresh rosemary stirring continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Let sit for 10-20 minutes. The longer the Rosemary steeps in the syrup the stronger the flavor will be. Taste after the sugar is dissolved; if you like a stronger rosemary flavor let steep until you get the desired strength.
Please note though that stronger isn’t always better. It will also become more bitter the longer it steeps.
After syrup cools, pour into a sealable glass jar and refrigerate. Syrups will keep for about 2 weeks if kept refrigerated.
