Coconut Pink Clay Mask

written by STEPH June 19, 2014

This is such a great mask, it is super moisturizing and it helps to eliminate toxins and tone your skin while tightening your pores.  It is great for mature skin and also helps to keep wrinkles at bay.

You won’t believe how silky soft your skin will be after you use it!

Pink-Clay-Coconut-Mask

Recipe: Approx. 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons

 Use: 3 – 4 times a week

  • 2 Tablespoons Coconut Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tablespoons French Pink Clay
  • 1 Tablespoons Aloe
  • 2 Drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 1 Drops Ylang Ylang  Essential Oil
  • 1 Drops Grapefruit Seed Extract

Instructions:

Measure everything and puree in a food processor or blender until really smooth and creamy. Scrape the sides and stir the bottom at least once.

Wash your face and preferably exfoliate then apply mask for up to 1/2 hour.

You won’t need to spry on a hydrosol due to the coconut oil and butter.

Rinse throughly and wash your face after to remove excess oil.

*It will last for a long time in the refrigerator I sometimes make a double batch.

Skin Benefits:

Coconut Butter – is the pureed coconut meat with about 60% oil, which has a thick, creamy and slightly gritty texture.  It has the same benefits for the skin as coconut oil but helps retain moister better and it promotes skin elasticity making it great for dry, aging or wrinkled skin. It removes dead skin cells. It has a small molecular structure so it absorption easily through the skin and penetrates deep in to the layers of the skin and strengthens the tissues underneath. High in antioxidants and is an anti-inflammatory. Use in: masks and exfolients

Coconut oil (Virgin) absorbs very easily and it’s great for all skin types, especially dry, sensitive skin, pre-mature aging, wrinkle, inflamed, irritated & itchy.  It does not clog pores and it is extremely softening, soothing, nourishing, very moisturizing.  It helps retain moisture and gives the skin a protective layer. The oil is full of anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, antiseptic & antibiotic.  Contains many fatty acids & multivitamins.

French Pink Clay  is a combination of red and white clay and is one of the mildest.  It is great for normal, sensitive, delicate, mature skin & also used to treat acne.  It is very cleansing and detoxifying while it gently remove dead skin cells, absorbs dirt, oil & bacteria from pores.  It also refreshes the skin giving it a youthful glow.

Aloe Vera is full of antioxidants that draw and hold oxygen into the skin.  While it penetrates and holds moisture in the tissue it also promotes cellular renewal from the enzymes that breaks down & digest tissue. It improves the skin elasticity and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. It tightens the skin and dilates capillaries increasing blood supply.  It is very balancing to the skins natural Ph.

Lavender Essential Oil is a balancing oil, meaning if you have dry skin it returns it to a normal state and the same goes for oily skin as it balance the sebum production, this is why it is used on all skin types.  It reduces inflammation and is soothing, healing and rejuvenating.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is also balancing oil like lavender. It is good for all skin types and is a toning oil.

*You can buy ingredients at your local health food store or at Mountain Rose Herbs.
